What can spoil the summer joy more than a mosquito bite? Nothing. And while different mosquito repellents can solve this problem, sometimes artificial sprays can be really nasty and cause various side effects. S, if you have sensitive skin, or especially children should avoid these repellents.
This product is cheap and natural, and will help you avoid mosquito bites. Here’s how to prepare it:
- Dried mint
- Medicinal alcohol
In a cup of hot water add 3-4 tablespoons of the herbs. Cover the lid and let it stay for a while on room temperature, then add some of the medicinal alcohol. Keep the liquid in a spray bottle and this will be your natural repellent against mosquitoes.
This recipe is best for adults, children should avoid using it because of the alcohol it contains. If you still need some natural protection for your children, substitute the alcohol for an apple cider vinegar.
This is an amazingly efficient spray, it is just the same as the ones you are buying, the only difference is that you should apply it often.
Skin-friendly mosquito repellent (also good for children)
- 1 liter apple cider vinegar
- 10 tbsp herbal mixture (of your choice): rosemary, lavender, thyme, sage and mint
Add the combination of herbs in a large jar and add the apple cider vinegar. Let the jar stay on room temperature for three weeks and stir it once in a while. Afterwards, strain the liquid and keep it in a bottle. Keep the bottle in the fridge.
Every time you prepare a spray repellent, mix the liquid with some water in the same proportion. For instance, fill half a spray bottle with the liquid prepared, and add regular water to the top. Now the spray is ready to use and it will keep mosquitoes away.
If you already have mosquito bites:
You can use lavender essential oil, bay leaves, lemon grass, aloe vera gel, chamomile cream, propolis, calendula or baking soda. Simply apply some of these natural remedies directly on the mosquito bite.

If your child’s skin reacts violently to any of these remedies, stop using them!
